Vanuatu College of Nursing Education (VCNE) is a registered government training institution regulated by the Vanuatu Nursing Council (VNC) and the Vanuatu Qualifications Authority (VQA). It is therefore a recognized Post-School Education and Training (PSET) provider for nursing education. VCNE is managed through a Quality Management System (QMS), as required by the VQA, and is subject to external audits.
The core function of VCNE is to train skilled and competent nurses and midwives, including individuals with disabilities, to attain recognized qualifications and provide quality health services to the people of Vanuatu.
VCNE upholds the philosophy of nursing and nursing education that recognizes human beings as perfectly created with physical, mental, and social dimensions, possessing the ability to think, feel, learn, reason, and make judgments. It promotes positive interactions and reflects values of respect, harmony, and unity across cultures.
The VCNE nursing program nurtures the intellectual, physical, emotional, social, and spiritual capacities of nursing students to deliver high-quality, safe health care services. The program emphasizes health promotion, illness prevention, and care for the ill, disabled, and dying. In addition to fostering personal and professional development, the program is committed to accepting and embracing individuals, families, and communities with diverse traditions, spiritual beliefs, values, and interpretations of health, while maintaining core health care principles.
